Skills
Skills are installable know how: focused instructions and tools an employee loads only when a job calls for them.
A skill is a small package that teaches an employee to do one thing well: edit PDFs, build slide decks, test a web app, profile a CSV. Employees load an installed skill only when a task needs it, so they stay fast the rest of the time.
Finding skills
- The Marketplace in the sidebar has a Skills section with ready made skills in categories like Software, Documents, Data, Media, Web, and Text. Think “convert CSV to Excel,” “merge PDFs,” “turn a video into a GIF.”
- A curated library covers bigger tool kits, like a full PDF toolkit and Word, PowerPoint, and Excel document skills.
- GitHub. Any public repo that contains skills in the standard format can be installed by name or URL.
Installing one
- 1
From the Marketplace
Open a skill card and hit Install, then pick which employee gets it. It's usable right away, including from the / menu in chat.
- 2
Or just ask in chat
Employees can search for and install skills themselves. “Find a skill for editing PDFs and install it” works, and installing a repo with several skills installs them all.
How they're used
Once installed, a skill shows up in the employee's / menu and gets picked up automatically when a task matches it. Skills unpack onto the employee's computer, so file heavy skills, like document conversion, run there.
Note
Skills from GitHub are checked and given a trust readout before install. They're instructions the employee reads, not code that runs on your machine.
