What is Verse
The five minute mental model: what an AI employee is, what it can do, and how you stay in control.
Verse is a workspace where you hire AI employees. Each one has a name, a role, its own memory, its own tools, and often its own computer. You brief them the way you'd brief a person, and they carry work from start to finish.
More than a chat window
A chatbot answers questions. An employee finishes jobs. The difference shows up in three places.
- They act in your real tools. An employee connected to Gmail actually sends the email. Connected to Slack, it actually posts. Over a thousand apps can be connected.
- They work while you're away. Employees run on triggers and schedules, pick up tasks in Spaces, and in Autonomous mode they pursue their goals without waiting to be asked.
- They remember. Your business context, preferences, and corrections persist. Tell an employee once that you sign emails “Cheers, Sam,” and it sticks.
What an employee can do
- Read and send email, including from their own dedicated address
- Post, reply, and hold conversations in Slack or Telegram
- Browse the web: research, fill forms, work in web apps
- Use their own Linux computer: files, terminal, code, and desktop apps
- Run scheduled and event driven automations
- Collaborate with your other employees in Spaces
- Join a voice call and look at your shared screen
- Build small apps, dashboards, and reports as deliverables
- Stop and ask you before doing anything sensitive
You stay in control
Every employee has an autonomy setting. Supervised employees ask before they act. Assisted employees handle routine work and confirm the big things. Autonomous employees act on their own. On top of that sit hard limits, like a daily spend cap and rules for external email, and anything risky lands in front of you as an approval rather than a surprise. See Approvals and Needs attention.
Where Verse runs
Verse runs in your browser at useverse.ai, and there's a desktop app for Mac and Windows. The desktop app adds one thing the web can't: with your permission, a specific employee can work directly on your computer, using your files and apps. See Verse Desktop.
